Is there a linguistic link between Egyptian Aton (Aten) and Hebrew Adon?

You think somebody planted it there 1800 years ago? The Jews were never really monotheistic until after the exile.

Mexico and Central American gov’ts only provide elementary education to their citizens. You want high school; pay for it yourself. It keeps citizens barely functional and under control of the gov’t…and dirt poor in today’s tech economy. It’s one reason why the ppl are flooding across our southern border hoping for more.

Historically it has actually been MEN suppressing educational possibilities of women that would be the cause for naivety in women back then, not that women didn’t already possess the same intelligence level as the men back then. I guess you just proved my point, thanks.

It’s somewhat antithetical to monotheistic Judaism so it’s surprising to see it appear an a bulla belonging to King Hezekiah. On the other hand, I’ve seen pagan Roman and Greek god images appear in mosaics in ancient 4th and 5th century synagogues. My guess is that they were just influenced by the prevailing cultures so your theory may be correct.

Maybe everything needs not be symbolic. Maybe Hezekiah just liked the symbol. In the fifties, a primary school classmate’s mother made doilies and sold them. Some of them were bordered with swastikas. She had a visit from the police who explained to her what they meant. To her, a typical female airhead, they just looked nice forming a border around her doilies. Great was her amazement…

It clarifies and explains why certain universal symbols were used by the rulers of a small monotheistic country that was surrounded by the large “superpowers” of the day.
