When I was 20 to 22 decades ago, I had the opportunity to visit Athens frequently
– and the Acropolis and its environs were a regular stopping off point for a climb
and contemplation of the city’s hillsides and harbor. Back then the Parthenon was freely accessible to tourists. But beside the palpable evidence of its existence, there was still much that remained to be understood. Both the images and the accompanying text bring back fond memories.
