Certainly “cosmopolitanism” and not “tribalism” is the ultimate goal of G-d for humanity. Seems like too many BAR readers cannot hold two non-contradictory thoughts in their brains at the same time. Paul put forward a “theology of Christ” available to all. His vision/theology was BOTH cosmopolitan (using Roman and Greek and Hebrew ideas here and elsewhere) AND biblical (by definition, since his writing are in the bible!).

This appears to be an attempt to insert a modern political agenda into an ancient scenario. Even a cursory reading of the entire text and a minimal understanding of Paul’s ideology will quickly reveal the authors position to be tenuous at best.

Remember that verse divisions are not part of the original text and can lead to ‘questionable’ interpretations–like the one we get in this article.

And even the treatment of archaeology on this website is most often presented from a perspective that has a secular slant if not a direct unbelieving view of Biblical history.

Please, BAR, stick to archaeology and don’t put this kind of trash in it. She concludes “Paul’s vision for how we would live together in an ideal society” is for everyone to stop getting married. Really? Her study of Gal. 3:28 is completely removed from its own context, much less the clear teaching of the rest of the New Testament, including Paul’s other writings. The point of v28 is that Christians are “all one in Christ Jesus.” Since they are one, Christians should not think of themselves as “Jew nor Greek, slave nor free” and so on. Galatians was written to stop some Jewish Christians who were saying, among other things, that Gentile Christians should be circumcised. See Gal.5:1-14.

When He was asked, “What muster so to do the works of God?, His reply was, “The work of God is to believe in Me and my gospel.”

Colossians 2:13, 14 says Jesus blotted out the hand written document (Law) that consisted of decrees at his death.
Paul also said that Christians are not condemned as sinners by that Law, but that it was through Christ that forgiveness was received – Romans 3:23, 24.
Interesting too are the words at Hebrews 10:1 and Colossians 2:17 that the Law was a shadow of the good things to come through Christ.
At Romans 13:9 Paul mentioned that several of the ten commandments were summed up by love of neighbour.

You are not wrong there Daniel but, the way you made your point was with ‘kid gloves’……….Paul and Jesus’ half brother Jude were certainly very direct with respect too that, for example in Romans 1:24-27 he makes no bones about it……..this is well brought out in any interlinear translation as well. Also Jude verses 5-8.
However, Christians should not be ‘homophobic’ or prejudiced and although not condoning it, should show kindness to all people.

Paul shows at (Galatians 6:2) and Hebrews 8:6-13 that true Christians are NOT under Law (Torah)………and the many other scriptures I quoted previously.
